Organisational Development and Development of Senior Management Team
The client is a national charity providing services to ex-Service men and women. The project was initially brought in to facilitate individual and team development for the members of the senior and operational management teams, which then developed into organsiational development and re-structuring.
Primary Objectives
- Identification of strengths of team and individuals.
- Identification of team and individuals’ development areas and areas of potential difficulty.
- Establishment of new working practices to enhance team effectiveness.
Secondary Objectives
- Development of a new senior management team and organisation structure that would deliver services more effectively.
- Management of particular areas of conflict between individuals.
- Improvement in cohesiveness of senior management team.
OPS Process
- 360 degree and psychological profiling of preferred personal style, self defeating behaviours, emotional intelligence, innovation, and team climate.
- Individual sessions with managers to establish aims, objectives and concerns.
- Liaison with CEO and senior management board about way forward when it became clear that team development wouldn’t achieve the desired outcomes on its own.
- Advice on possible restructuring and implications.
- Further individual sessions following announcement of restructuring.
- Two one-day workshops covering
- New organisational structures and functions
- Development of team and individual goals, aims and objectives
- Team working and leadership styles
- Managing internal and external conflict
- Individual summary reports and extended team reports produced following on from the workshop.
Outcomes
- Streamlined, diverse and cohesive senior management team and functions.
- Clarity amongst new Operational Management Team about roles, and way of working effectively.
- Improved cross functional team working, morale, and personal relationships.
